9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Continuing My Opportunity Research

1) I interviewed 5 Disc Jockeys from an organization I work for, House Hats. I conducted 5 interviews with students from the University of Florida that, for one reason or another, have experienced this unmet need. They all weren't satisfied with their current progress or the path they were following, relating to their DJ experience and performance.

A) Who: The customers that could fall outside my boundary would be the DJs that are proficient but haven't been enjoying their performance as much due to Covid-19, the virus that has been spreading lately.

B) What: The need I have identified, DJs not being satisfied with their performance and/or skill level, differs from DJs that have the skill level but purely don't have the right connection or haven't put in an necessary amount of time to land the gigs they want. It is also different from the need that has arisen from the current virus spread, preventing DJs from being able to perform at nightclubs.

C) Why: The "outsiders" need is different from the insiders need in many ways. For example, a key difference is skill level. The outsiders have the talent and skill.

Inside Boundary

Outside Boundary

Who is in

DJs lacking the skill level to perform

Who is not

DJs having the skill to perform

What the need is

To be able to perform is called upon for an opportunity

Why the need is not

Because they have the skill and lack the opportunities

Why the need exists

Because of expensive alternative schools and lack of knowledge

Alternative Explanations

They lack the opportunities due to lack of effort, disinterest, or due to the virus going around (Covid-19)
